It is useful to those who are seeking a broad overview of transgenic animal technology and those who require specific technical details regarding setting up a gene targeting facility at their lab/institution. For me, I found the first few chapters regarding generating transgenic mice and their initial phenotyping exceptionally useful. I enjoyed learning about the established protocols regarding superovulation, oocyte harvesting and pronuclear injections (I had no idea how any of these things were done before reading this book). There are some crucial tips regarding determining the transgene copy number, number of integration sites, and transgene stability. Overall, this book is good to read for people who work with transgenic animals.
