If you want to learn how to inject, you need someone to show you how to do it. This is difficult from just reading a book.

I had bought the Saunders injection book which has nice pictures and initially looked very good. Unfortunately some of the pictures are misleading (see wrist joint injection) and the text description is difficult to put into practice. It also included a CD-Rom to use on the computer, but the injections are too brief and misleading because they use a sheathed needle. Also the carpal tunnel injection shows you how to inject INTO the median nerve. (Not recommended unless you have a good lawyer.)

I realised that I needed something else to show me how to perform injections safely. I was pleased to buy this DVD which is well laid out and easy to navigate. All the common upper limb injections are included.

It gives the indications for each injection as well as injection volumes + needle size.

Each injection is demonstrated on a skeleton, a human model and also on real patients. (The patient injections are REALLY useful.) Watching an experienced doctor doing the injection will show you EXACTLY how and where to inject, something that books can not do.

The DVD also includes a patient information sheet and also a drug dose / syringe size poster that can be printed from your computer. (Very useful to have on the wall in your clinic.)
