Dr. MacDonald has edited a brilliant reference on the etiology and pathophysiology of cerebral vasospasm. He discusses the roles of ionic and molecular mediators of the disease, such as magnesium, calcium, voltage gated potassium channels, and MAP Kinase. He looks at mediators such as phosphatases and protein kinases in detail. This is a fundamental great source for the neuroscientist working in the laboratory on vasospasm. The authors are well respected neurosurgeons and scientists with a specialty training in cerebrovascular diseases.Unlike the Cerebral Vasospasm text by Weir & MacDonald, this book goes into animal models in great detail.I have used this book many times for my own research.
