The APHA Complete Review for Pharmacy (Gourley, Apha Complete Review for Pharmacy) Review

This is another large review book for the NAPLEX.The book may be too detailed to read from cover to cover in time for the exam, but it came free with APhA membership during our final year in pharmacy school.I used this APHA book and the Comprehensive Review of Pharmacy (Shargel) to obtain background information on topics that kept eluding me during practice exams with Appleton & Lange.

Be careful when reading the APhA book since it had some errors in the drug information tables from the last edition, particularly in the GI chapter.I don't know if they have been corrected in the new edition.

Product Description:
The NAPLEX® (North American Pharmacist LicensureExamination®) is the standard licensing exam that all U.S.pharmacy students must pass to practice pharmacy. It's anarduous exam that tests a daunting range of knowledge.Approximately 10% of students taking the exam for thefi rst time fail to achieve a passing score. Preparing forthe NAPLEX® by reviewing all the material from eachpharmacy school course would be overwhelming. A farbetter approach would be to study only the informationmost relevant to the exam, summarized in abbreviatedbullet format, and that's what The APhA Complete Reviewfor Pharmacy contains.

APHA's Complete Review For Pharmacy Review

APHA's Complete Review For Pharmacy

From my own experience, the best review you can get for NAPLEX is one by KAPLAN, very straight to the point and very clear. APHA is a good review as well, it has up to date information and tables (with Brand names) summarizing important points, for me it was much better than CPR by Shargel; which was too much comprehensive ,boring, and information needs to be updated, i.e. even though I had the 2005 version, it has many missing new drugs which you will be asked about in NAPLEX. After you go through a review that you like, make sure to go through Appelton and Lange Q&A's, it helps wrappingup any points that you missed, make sure you understand the concept from the answer to the question not just memorizing the answer to the question. I personally found many questions in the NAPLEX directly related to others in the Appelton, many friends of mine said the same so I recommend it. Also, do not ever buy "NAPLEX Secrets" Study Guide (by Morrison Media LLC), it is a big lie! My friend bought it and it was not worth a penny!. Finally, make sure you study by heart the top dispensed 300 drugs in retail/hospital.

This is a great book for those new to the field of pharmacy practice in the ED or those looking to improve their practice in the ED.It has made my transition into ED practice a much smoother one.By having read ahead of time about where errors in the ED tend to occur it was easier to anticipate where I could make interventions.Sections I have gone back to several times are the toxicology chapter and the quick reference tables in the appendix.

Happy to have received the item as described in a rather short amount of time. I wish communication was better of when the product shipped and when I may anticipate receiving the product. I initiated an email and correspondingly received the ETA information.

Appleton & Lange Review of Pharmacy Review

Appleton & Lange Review of Pharmacy
Average Reviews:

This book is great for quizzing you so you know what subjects to brush up on. THe CD can also get you used to the CAT format. But having taken the NAPLEX after using this book and several others, you will never see these questions on the NAPLEX. The chances of seeing the same question is almost zilch. Its better to know your key subjects well (HTN, DM, HIV, etc) then learn facts here and there about everything. That's what this book does for you. Its a compilation of specific questions. I recommend a review book such as APHA's Comprehensive Pharmacy Review, or Kaplans Naplex review instead.
