Average Reviews: (More customer reviews)This book is an excellent source for medical students rotating in orthopaedics.It has the most common procedures done and goes through each surgery step by step.It's incredibly helpful for reading about a procedure before scrubbing in so you're not lost.I almost didn't get it because of the reviews, but I'm very glad I did.One person here seemed to write a review based only on the previous review.This book has made the entire OR experience much more rewarding.It takes you through the history, physical exam, imaging and differential for many common orthopaedic cases then it takes you through the anatomy and the entire procedure while pointing out areas of potential complications and how they are avoided.It also provides great questions to ask attendings, because everyone discovers quickly that surgeons have their own preferences for the way surgeries are performed, and it helps to know where things can be done differently.
Average Reviews: (More customer reviews)This is a great, small book that can be used for quick reference when working with orthopedic patients.The pictures are small but it is not meant as a true anatomical atlas.It includes some nice x-rays, plenty of common pathological conditions and a few quick tests.

Convenient both as a study source for medical students, its many photographs and illustrations will also serve as a usefulclinical reference for young surgeons, residents, nurses, and physician assistants. Each of the many topics is covered in depth and is designed toeducate medical studentsand steer them towardsformulatingexcellent diagnoses and treatment plans. As a further aid, multiple-choice questions are included at the end of each chapter. The questions are very similar to those that students will see on their boards. A section devoted to case studies further illustrates common orthopaedic problems and their treatment. Average Reviews: (More customer reviews)This book helped me focus my musculoskeletal exam and make it more effecient.It's a first rate book that ortho docs and GPs alike would benefit from using.GPs and ortho/pm&r/neuro residents may particuarly like the diagnostic work up and treatment sections, which most exam books don't have.I was turned onto this book by a colleague and I'm very grateful that I was.Not many people seem to be using it yet, and I hadn't heard of it, but it's a good find.Other books for musculoskeletal exam that are worth getting are Magee's Orthopedic Physical Assessment (which is a larger book written by a PT that could be used as a reference for various physical exam maneuvers) and, of course, Hoppenfeld's Physical Exam book.Hoppenfeld still sets the standard when it comes to anatomy and biomechanical review, which he weaves nicely into his physical exam.
